Hatta, a suspect on Japan’s nationwide most-wanted list, is accused of killing and injuring two university students in June 2022 after allegedly ramming his compact car into two motorcycles on a prefectural road in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture.

Hatta’s designation as a most-wanted suspect and the eligibility period for the special investigation reward have been extended until the end of October 2027.

The total reward for information leading to his arrest is now up to 8 million yen, consisting of a maximum of 3 million yen offered by the Japanese government and an additional privately funded reward offered by the victims’ families and supporters.
