Whenever I see sunflowers fully bloom, it really gives me inner joy. I feel happy, it gives me positive vibes.
One of the anticipated times of the year in Mati City is the Opening of the Sunflower Maze of the Davao Commercial Agriculture Research Station (DaCARS). Its location is in Marfori, Don Enrique Lopez, Mati City.
Every year, DaCARS will plant lots of sunflowers and upon blooming season they are going to open it to the public. This year, we are so glad that we were able to visit the place and have a glimpse of the sunflowers.
The Sunflower maze is about 15 minutes ride from our home. My kids were so excited that they will be visiting the place with many sunflowers. When we arrived there, there are also many residents visiting the place. People were busy taking pictures, making their best poses, looking on the sunflowers of different sizes. My kids were amazed seeing the big and small sunflowers, especially when they saw the bees kissing the sunflowers. They enjoyed roaming around, passing the maze, running and chasing each other. These sunflowers were not the tall ones, the height is almost the same with my height and some are shorter.
Aside from the sunflowers, DaCARS being a research center has this greenhouse where they do research on planting with different kinds of soil and conditions. This way, they will know the best way of planting.
We also enjoyed the viewing the other flowers in the site. They were so colorful.
This flower is usually seen in the wild, it smells bad but the colors looks good.
If you will be asking how much is the entrance fee? No fixed amount, they will just accept any donation amount that one can share. Strictly no picking of sunflowers, for the eyes only!
Our time in the sunflower maze is a great family bonding, kids were able to appreciate nature, kids were able to have a field trip in the real world and not just seeing those in pictures. We look forward for next year's planting season and opening of the sunflower farm.
