Hello friends of Steemit, today I bring you a topic with which I hope to improve the Steemit community in one way or another. Inform and clarify certain doubts about it, so that each of the users do a better job within the community.

What are the comments on Steemit?

Those messages and / or texts that we leave under any publication, with which we express our opinion or simply a message that we want to share with that user.

Types of comments

1) Spam.

That type of comments that seem to be made by bots, that is, they are repeated over and over again in several posts. They do not contribute anything productive to the publication, their only objective is simply to comment for yes.

This type of comments must be avoided if we do not want to be reported. Next I will give you several examples:

  • Good post!
  • Excellent post!
  • Your publication is very interesting!
  • Incredible images!
  • Keep it up, friend!

Basically empty comments. If you're going to say something like that, you better not do it. It can give a bad image of you, since you are not showing the author that you took the time to read said post.

2) Self-advertising

Comments in which their sole objective is simply to promote themselves, be it a publication that interests them or your profile in general.

These types of comments can fall quite badly, because they show that they care very little about what you have written, they just want more users to visit their content that is not bad, but it is not the right way to do it.

Here are some examples:

  • Friend great post, I invite you to read my publications "User profile link"
  • I have made a publication on this subject, I invite you to read it.

To make a comment with advertising in the right way, first you have to contribute something to the post and give a solid opinion on the subject and then you can self-promote, although personally, I prefer not to do so.

3) Destructive criticism.

Its sole purpose is to express hatred, only seek to destroy and denigrate the user. They are not based on any reason or logic to justify whatever they are expressing.

Comments like these should be reported immediately, since you always have to be kind and promote the healthy community in Steemit.

If there is any issue or aspect in which we disagree, there is always a correct way to say it. I will not give examples, because you will imagine this kind of comments.

4) Constructive criticism.

One of the best comments you can leave in a post. They provide the user with a recommendation to improve in the Steemit community, which I am sure any user will take in a good way.

Everyone in Steemit has ever corrected us in one way or another, whether it's a spelling mistake, an error in writing, a topic or even the tags used (in my case). The difference is in how we say things.

Being kind and respectful is key before making a comment of this kind so that no misunderstanding occurs. Do not be afraid to correct or help a user, it is better to ignore the error.

5) Extensive comments.

A type of comment that is commonly seen in posts by users with a high reputation. It is done by those people who try to stand out among the other comments for them to get votes.

It is not at all bad to make an extensive comment as long as it is something that is really worth reading and has something to contribute to the community.

You can easily tell the difference when a person does it simply to win votes and another when you really have an idea to share with other users.

I hope you have identified with any of these comments described here and remember to always contribute a grain of sand to improve the community.

Greetings and good vibes for everyone!
