FEEL THE BEAT. An ideal movie to watch with the family, in the company of children. It is very wholesome, full of dancing and fun, romance, sadness and emotions. I recently watched it on Netflix. I was thinking of watching something while I was having dinner with the intention of doing something afterwards, so I put this movie on but as I started watching it there were some things that attracted me and I couldn't stop watching it, I found it interesting.

It is about a young girl (protagonist Sofia Carson) who wants to be a professional dancer, the more she increases her dancing skills, the more her good qualities diminish, making her make a serious mistake that puts her whole career at stake. In view of what happened she has to return to her hometown where her personality is put to the test as she has to train some little girls for a dance competition.

As always, I like to highlight a few points that I think stand out in the film, and how they touch me personally. I will start by talking about pride. It happens to many people that when they achieve a status or certain reputation of importance, they forget the value of being humble and instead become selfish, inconsiderate, self-centered people.

And this happens a lot in today's world, the more fame and reputation a person has, the more inaccessible he becomes. And this is one of the things that stand out in the film, how someone can become disdainful of his roots because he thinks he is more important than others.

But something that caught my attention at this point is the feeling of proud people, as is the case of the protagonist; simply for her her actions were normal, her arrogance was so great that she could not perceive the damage she was causing around her, which makes me think that pride is a blindfold for the eyes and a shield for the heart. Pride makes us inhuman and indolent.

However, as perceived in the film, pride is often inculcated. Some universities, academies and others, at the beginning humiliate people so much that when they are at the top they do the same as if that were part of education, as if life were a pyramid of roles, and the higher you go up you have the right to treat people as you please.

However, the process of change is something progressive, and that was something I liked about the movie, you can perceive those stages that make a person reform his personality. I found it very realistic, starting with noticing that something is not right with you, then the acceptance, the decision to change and do things differently, and after feeling so high and deciding to change you feel like you fall down and hit hard and start to feel vulnerability, and now you feel like you are doing everything wrong until you finally manage to find a balance.

I liked that this will be shown in the movie, of how a proud person can become humble. It's a good message, and gives room for reflection and self-examination of our personality.

And in relation to this I have a personal experience to tell, because the truth is a little embarrassing, but if it is about humility I must tell it, and the reason is that when I was watching this movie I remembered that event, so this experience is part of my impression of the film.

I remember being in college, as my career was Administrative Management, I saw many subjects that dealt with the subject of leadership and decision making, the professors told me that I would be very good at leading because I managed to have control of the groups in which I was, but it seems that without realizing it, I went a little over my head and I stopped being empathetic. I wanted my group to do well in the evaluations and I started to demand some things from them, not thinking about their circumstances and believing that I was doing everything right.

This experience was key because of what a friend did, and I say friend because true friends are the ones who are willing to tell you things to your face because they want you to change for the better. Then, a friend told me that she needed to talk to me and although at first she started calmly, it didn't take her long to unload all the annoyance she had with me, at that moment she told me strong and direct things, like that I was a perfectionist, selfish, that I didn't think about others, that she studied but she also had to work, take care of her daughters and husband, also that she was 10 years older than me so I could not expect her to perform in the same way as a 16 year old girl who only had to worry about studying.

Those words stuck in my mind, not all of them were sensible but she was expressing what she felt and the truth of it all was that I was having a bad quality that was hurting my group and I'm sure everyone felt the same. So I just listened to her until the end, and after I finished I thanked her and apologized for not realizing that sooner.

She didn't expect that reaction from me, but if they were telling me to my face that I should be humble I should start from that very moment, thanking her for her bravery and the time she took to tell me things. Obviously after that I felt vulnerable and often asked some people what they thought of me, until I found my balance as the girl in the movie.

Not diverting the subject, another interesting point to highlight is that of the children, I was also a child so I identified a lot with their emotions and what the film wanted to convey. I confess that in one scene I even cried, but I won't tell you which one so that you will be left with the doubt and go see the movie.

I will start talking about the treatment of children, usually adults are responsible for educating and teaching children, and we could fall into the error of thinking that children forget everything and tell them anything in moments of discomfort or lack of patience. But children's emotions are usually strong and at their young age they may be carrying burdens that we do not imagine.

In the film we clearly see the case of a girl, how some ill-considered words cause deep damage to her and how this greatly damages her self-esteem, leaving room for reflection on not taking into account the emotions and feelings of children.

Another thing to highlight is how the absence of parents can affect children, either by death or abandonment, it affects their personality and without thinking about it they grow up with that burden that can disturb them even in their adult life, as shown in the case of a girl in the film and the protagonist herself. Thank God I grew up with both parents, but putting myself in the place of those characters moved my heart.

Parental support is very important, children need to feel that their parents are proud of them and I say this with experience because my parents supported me a lot in dances and school events. Even if they have to make some economic efforts, for that moment of happiness of the children it is worth it.

And speaking of dances, one of the dances in the movie touched my heart, it leaves a beautiful message in its performance, without saying a single word, definitely beautiful! But obviously it touched me for a specific reason. The dance shares the message of inclusion and that we are all family, showing how some limitations such as visual or additive do not make us less than others.

I especially liked it because of the deaf girl and the way they include her, so that her limitation is not seen as an impediment. When I was in Venezuela I got to teach deaf children using Venezuelan sign language and I know how difficult it is to be included with other children. But in the movie the signs they used to say that we are all one family are the same signs we use in Venezuela, so that really touched my heart, so much so that since I saw the movie I wanted to learn Colombian sign language so as not to abandon this beautiful work.

All in all, I felt that this movie has a great message of humility, and what better way to learn it than with children, who are willing to forgive, to make new friends and to learn.

At different times in life our qualities will be put to the test and it is up to us to accept our faults, correct them and move forward. How nice it would be if universities and big academies taught us that the best way for someone to grow as a good professional is with love, motivation, and humility.

Who would have thought that a movie that I was going to watch alone while eating dinner and that I would take it out after about five minutes would please me so much. Its message struck a chord, and for me a good movie is not about the perception of others, but what it makes me personally feel.

I encourage you to see this movie. It is very nice to share with family and in the presence of children, without fear of uncomfortable scenes. If you have already seen it or are going to see it, leave me your impression in the comments.
