Today I have a desire to create a post on the topic of a weekend trip. It will be about visiting two cities, whose names are consonant with the words coals and porridge

The first city we visited is at the maximum distance from our starting point. If you translate the name of this settlement into English, then it will sound something like this - a city belonging to the porridge. There is even a museum dedicated to porridge. But I think that most likely the town got its name from the name of a certain ruler, prince. They often had funny nicknames such as Trough, Purse or Porridge.
The city is quite small, has only 14 thousand inhabitants. In the historical center, an ensemble of shopping arcades from the period of the 18th-19th centuries has been preserved. There are several temples and monasteries. The main attraction of the city is the river. The historical center of the settlement is located inside a river loop that looks like a heart.

We have been looking for a pump room with mineral water for a long time. The building looks very imposing. Spectacular building with elements of architectural classics, with massive Doric columns and tall windows. It turned out that the pump room is hiding in the territory of a closed sanatorium.

Having penetrated the territory of the sanatorium, we tried to taste the mineral water. But the attendant refused us, saying that the water is issued in the direction of a doctor. In addition, this water has a side effect in the form of diarrhea. No, diarrhea on the road is not the best companion.

In principle, the city has a good tourist potential

The next point of the trip is the city of Kalyazin, half-flooded after the construction of a hydroelectric power station. The main attraction of the city is the bell tower on the island. The building looks very impressive

More recently, the city was included in the state program for the development of tourism in historical settlements. The results are very clear. Tourists can see the restored pavement, merchant houses and the new embankment. The bell tower has also been restored.

Another interesting point is the original dormers in the form of an orange slice. Local craftsmen were not lazy to create such beauty two centuries ago. Now we will not see such windows - this is too painstaking process
