Happy new year everyone. 2021 was a blast, I remember the year started slowly and suddenly things started to take off, I remember BNB doing a blast off in February when the Binance Smart Chain started, the price crossed $200 for the first time ever,
I also remember Dogecoin doing a madness, 1000% increase over night that sent the entire cryptosphere into several levels of states of emotions.
Many DeFi tokens also made big moves, UNI token that was worth about 3$ during the airdrop in November 2020 increased to about 12$ as at February 2021, I remember this because a friend sold off his airdrop at 3$ and couldnât help but regret it few months after,
RUNE also made its first highs at 3$ during that period and I remember this because that was when I started to accumulate Rune. I finally got myself fully involved by becoming an LP in March. It wasnât long after that Bitcoin crossed $60k for the first time ever, RUNE also took off with it and reached new highs around $23 and BNB over $600
$100k Bitcoin looked pretty within reach and within a short period of time, then bust! Boom! Bam! Bitcoin lost 30% in value, then another 25%, and kept tumbling down till about 75% was gone and the entire crypto market went tumbling down right after. I also remember the recovery and what possibly lead to it.
Interesting how I remember a lot of the events that went on throughout the year, I know itâs partly due to how I take record of these happenings. I started this thing around May last year. I made a brief overview of every month at the end of the month. Check out the one I did for November here
While I donât cover everything, obviously canât, I do take stock of the most interesting events in general and personal to me. I find it fun and informative, itâs something Iâll like to be able to direct my friends to and those who might not have the time to commit as much time as I do, something like a monthly newsletter may be down the line, I guess things will become clearer in due time.
Eventually, in 2021, most tokens reached new all time highs, the bull ran with series of dips along the way, there was fear as much as there was greed. However, Institutions have started to participate in accumulating Bitcoin. Eyes are on El Salvador to see whether or not the new financial system will be an epic fail.....as Bitcoin consolidates around $47k.
Splinterlands also took off this year, my deck value sky rocketed to levels I had never imagined, I took some profits and invested them into the HBD savings that just got a raise of 2% extra for the savings APR.
.....I lived 2021 in crypto, Hive was my major investment and performed greatly, nothing is as sweet as when price meets developments, Hives price took a while to join in the action with the rest of the mooning cryptos but when it eventually did, it did strong, reached an ATH of $3.4 and is still holding as strong at $1.50, when development is stronk, price will catch up. Fundamentals, guys!
Whatâs 2022 going to be like though? Is $100k Bitcoin still on the table? Whatâs the worst regulators can do? 2022 is rumored to be the year for L1 cross chain Dapps, Web 3.0 protocols and Metaverse projects.it sounds like fun, it sounds like stuff thatâll require more proactive participation unlike something to set and leave.
Proactive participation leads to discovery of other features within the space. Passive participation doesnât get people engrossed enough to discover other things, moreover, the target audience of this new tools of excitement is for an entirely different breed of people, the metaverseâs first target audience is not programmers, or pro investors but Gamers, and their number are in hundreds of millions.
Whether people come for games, as content creators, to gain access to revolutionary advanced financial and investment tools, to hedge inflation, financial privacy or just simply out of curiosity, all are welcomed, the more the merrier and thatâs something we should expect in 2022.
Personally, I plan to be even more involved on Hive, that means spending more time curating, engaging both offline and online, means using more tools, investing more, leveraging my prior knowledge and tapping into power house of information that is available for everyone, in Leofinance.io.
I discovered Rune in 2021 and added it to my long term holdings alongside Hive, Leo, Cub and Splinterlands assets. Iâm now also holding THOR, VYB, and SEED for long term.
