Hey guys,

We have this book called Rainbow Fish and if I'm right, first time I heard about it, was from ryivhnn@ryivhnn, here on hive, maybe two years ago.

I looked it up at once and I so wanted this book for my son 💙. I personally love the book, the ilustrations and the story behind it.

This summer, we took one day only to study the book again and also to do some more activities based on the story.

Long story short, Rainbow Fish Book is about a beautiful unique fish who had shiny scales. He was the most beautiful fish in the ocean. Other fish came and asked him to share his shimmering scales with them, but he refuses.

In the end, through his journey Rainbow Fish learns the value of friendship and sharing. The book teaches a lesson about the importance of kindness, sharing and the true meaning of beauty.

Read and Colour Worsheet

Caleb already knew whats this book about, we have it for a year now.
But I felt it to take it out of the library and read it again, reflecting on the book message.
I also looked up for some worksheets to do and in the end, we made our own Rainbow Fish 🐠🐠.

This is a coloring worksheet, with a legend of numbers corelated with colors.

Count the scales

Counting and numeration skills were centered with this activity. My printer was on low with colored ink, so an extra step here was to color the scales and only after fhat, counting them.
Caleb wrote the number of the scales too but if your child cant write, then you should help him with this.

Pencil Control Worksheets

This was just an ordinary pencil control worksheet, in order to develop fine motor skills, dexterity, hand eye coordination and eventually initial writting skills.
But it was attractive enough because it was on our theme.

Rainbow Fish Craft Making

To make our cute little fish, I cut some scales, using colored paper.
I had a printable Rainbow Fish and worked on that one.
We colored the fins, the tail and the head. I found a piece of recycled glitter paper, used that too though it had some black writing on it. 😁
It didnt mind us. There was glitter after all right?! 😆

English Words

I found a worksheet with English words, words from the book.
You know we are Romanians (who follows me) ,so I teach my son English.
And I found this Rainbow Fish Search Words, and we named them, repeat them and afterwards, look for them in the book.

Overall, it was an ejoyable learning time. We read the story at bedtime too. 🐠
I pick this book from our library very often. I dont know if its the message that carries with it or its just about this book being really cute, colorful and very beautiful ilustrated.

How about you? Do you know the story? Here is not so popular. And btw, the author of the book is called Marcus Pfister.
