Hello everyone!
I live pretty much close to Budapest, meaning 3 hrs driving. Well, thats not much considering there are highways and the road is pretty good.
So in the last couple of years I've visited this city many times. Last time I visited was in October 2022, a couple of mounths ago.
Fact: Budapest is very beautiful in fall.
I was in Budapest two times in winter, in the last 5 years or so. And I just found some pictures, which I'll share them with you. The place looks the same as it is today. 🤎
The most popular city in Hungary, Budapest, it's a clean city, with a very beautiful architecture. Its central area along the Danube River is definitely worth visiting if you have just a couple of hours.
And because I've seen this place many times, I would recommend you, if possible, to see the city in Spring, Summer or early Fall.
The Shoes on the Danube Bank (Hungarian: Cipők a Duna-parton) is a memorial erected on 16 April 2005, in Budapest, Hungary. Conceived by film director Can Togay, he created it on the east bank of the Danube River with sculptor Gyula Pauer [hu] to honour the Jews who were massacred by fascist Hungarian militia belonging to the Arrow Cross Party in Budapest during the Second World War. They were ordered to take off their shoes (shoes were valuable and could be stolen and resold by the militia after the massacre), and were shot at the edge of the water so that their bodies fell into the river and were carried away. The memorial represents their shoes left behind on the bank. (wikipedia source)
The Parliament Building is built in the Gothic Revival style. You can see how beautiful this building is! It has such a complex structure. All big cities like Budapest, Wien, Prague, Berlin, Bratislava, Zagreb, Madrid and other European cities have this unique European style.
I love Europe! 😁❤️
We booked a guide and visited the inside too, but I didnt take any photos. Or in case I did, I can't find them. Still, I remember photography was not allowed at that time. Correct me if I'm wrong.
You can choose a guide and have a 45 min tour in so many languages! English, French, Italian, Russian, German or Spanish are just a few!
Most popular Christmas Market here in the city is the one taking place in Vörösmarty tér (Vörösmarty Square).
In season, this square is full of people from all around the globe. Christmas Market in Budapest is the main attraction in winter.
You can try local food, buy souvenirs and gifts, Christmas ornaments and all kind of DIY Crafts.
One year I've been here there was a small ice rink, I don't know if they have it every year ⛸️. Also, there are concerts and shows prepared for the public.
The atmosphere is nice with Christmas sounds, lights and colors! Magical! Not to mention the flavors of different foods! Yummy!
I've seen so many people here, of all nationalities.
And what I love the most is the Mulled Wine! 🍷 The smell of Cinnamon and this hot drink really warms your soul. And be careful baby, it's cold outside!

This is me! Hehe. I was 7 months pregnant here.
Budapest has many bridges, all span the River Danube between Buda and Pest. But this Bridge is the most famous, built in 1839.
The bridge opened in 1849, after the Hungarian Revolution of 1848, becoming the first permanent bridge in the Hungarian capital. At the time, its centre span of 202 metres (663 ft) was one of the largest in the world. The lions at each of the abutments were carved in stone by the sculptor János Marschalkó [hu] and installed in 1852.[6] They are similar in design to the bronze lions of Trafalgar Square (commissioned in 1858 and installed in 1867).[7] The bridge was given its current name in 1898. Wikipedia
The bridge's cast-iron structure was updated and strengthened in 1914. In World War II, the bridge was blown up on 18 January 1945 by the retreating Germans during the Siege of Budapest, with only the towers remaining. It was rebuilt, and reopened in 1949.[7] Wikipedia
The inscription on each side of the bridge is to "Clark Adam", the bridge builder's name in the local Eastern name order. A plaque on the Pest side of the river reads "To commemorate the only two surviving bridges designed by William Tierney Clark: The Széchenyi Chain Bridge over the Danube at Budapest and the suspension bridge over the Thames at Marlow, England." As you noticed my photos aren't the brightest. Here are pictures taken in two different days, two different years. And as you can see, the sky was always grey and dark. December is a cold month in this part of the world!
Also, I had a Nikon Coolpix Camera back then and my old Iphone doesnt count. So, the quality of the photos is questionable, I would say. Still, I can't complain about it.
I hope you enjoy my post, friends! And no matter the year, Budapest is a great city to visit!
Love, missdeli
