Conquering Karkas Mountain, “Vulture Mountain,” means experiencing the journey on the mountain of bare rock, extensive ridges, and the boundless expanses of the desert.

The climb starts along dusty scree paths, passing by the small alpine shrubs and scree slopes from which one can see far into the valleys below.

Higher up, rocky ravines open views with patches of snow tenaciously holding on to the high-altitude rocks against the backdrop of clear blue skies.

On the ridges, the immense Karkas Mountain Range unfolds itself, exposing its jagged volcanic ridges and the layered desert valleys far away.

Returning down the steep slope, one can see a small cabin that stands in the depths of the valley, emphasizing how massive and solitary the mountain is.

Finally, on top of the mountain, looking from above the haze, one sees the reward for the climb – an unbroken horizon across the Iranian plateau.
