Amd's Fsr technology is basically open to anyone...
I mean people with nvidia gpus and intel gpus can use it
but frankly it's a stupid idea anyways at least in my opinion.
People were literally a few years before... actively cranking VSR aka DSR on.. to inflate the resolution higher than their native displays capabilities... at the cost of performance and other features like the fact that outputting to the display would often result in refresh rates dropping. for a tiny bit of extra quality
and now we've got massive regression by people dropping resolution and using image interpolation and prediction and sharpening tools to "simulate" a higher resolution, at the total cost of quality....
Are there aspects in which it could have a purpose.... sure... if it can handle realtime texture improving functions, I'd consider it a pretty solid solution for old games being blown up to fit on 4k and 8k displays that are physically large as well too, because the only thing high resolution can do is give you precise geometry, textures and limits of the engines of old are going to be limited. cranking a 8x8 texture to 1024x1024 would be pretty massive with projected high detail texturing prediction. But this is mostly something that should be done not in realtime as it's drawn, but rather done once assets are loaded and keep it in memory.
