It surprises me just how many people feel like they've lost their purpose in life when they retire and don't know what to do with themselves. I have so many interests, but little time to do them on top of working and commitments in the home. It also seems to me to be rather sad to put your whole worth into your job, knowing that you are so easily replaced once you're gone. My friend's husband passed away suddenly and for his family their world was turned upside down, but for his workplace they just moved on to trying to find a replacement.
