My grandmother had a biscuit tin full of salvaged buttons and we found all sorts of games to play with them. Thankfully the tin was old enough not to look like it might contain cookies any more. Today my button container is an old chocolates tin. It used to be a jar so you could see it's contents, but I ran out of room in it, so it had to move to a larger container. I admit I'm a hoarder when it comes to these things, but when repairs need to be done I know I have what I need on hand without a trip to the shops.
