I wonder what came first: power or money?
I think that today money definitely dictates how much power we have, but the craving for power has always existed even before the invention of money. So I would guess that power has existed longer and money merely became a conduit for it.
In an instant, one can go from generosity and abundance to misery and scarcity.
The wims of fate can certainly be a great equaliser. My grandmother and her family experienced this first hand. From middle class to homeless and destitute as war to their homeland.
