This reminds me of this podcast I listened to recently which prompted me to start writing down thoughts on this very topic for a post at some point.

I thought it ironic that there seems to be this belief that a communist style regime and having your freedoms removed will in fact bring you freedom. I have to wonder about the mental gymnastics required to reach that conclusion.

Most of these left leaning people are loving and well meaning people, they just don't seem to be able to see the bigger picture because they are too focused on a utopia that can never exist. Sadly the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
