30 Days of Biking is a challenge that started in my home city, Minneapolis, and spread around the world. Cyclists pledge to ride every day during the month of April. In some climates, this is more challenging than others. This is my third year participating.
Whoo Hoo! We hit 60!
I put on my shiny shoes...

And my favorite cycling shirt...

On April 22 the temperature climbed to around 60 Fahrenheit (approximately 15 C). It was a big deal after the snowy, cold streak. I pedaled along the Midtown Greenway, a dedicated cycling and pedestrian path in South Minneapolis. You can see the melting snow and mud along the corridor. Luckily most of the path was clear and dry (my bike is fenderless).

It was a strange experience when the lake came into view: feeling sixty degree weather and looking at snow-covered water was surreal. It's tough to tell in this photo (below) that the trees in the mid-ground are on an island. Hence the name Lake of the Isles. It's one of my favorite lakes in Minneapolis and there are pedestrian and cycling paths circling it. Before I became a primary cyclist it was my go-to place for running. A little under 3 miles, the circumference trail is perfect for a quick jog. Cycling around it takes more patience, as the paths get crowded with people leisurely strolling, biking, skateboarding, rollerblading, pushing strollers, walking dogs... You get the idea :) I have to change to a mindset of sight-seeing and relaxing, rather than pedaling fast.

Thanks for reading and connecting with cycling stories!
