Would you like to wander the palaces in ancient Korean clothes? How about a cup of Korean traditional tea from a wooden house on top of the city? Would you like to wander through art galleries and literally speaking animal cafes until you are beat.
That's a typical weekend when a friend from overseas shows up in Seoul. Basically we have a great time. Each person that comes to visit is unique and special but these days I look back at some memories of my friend Tommy.
If anyone could be a friend like Tommy was for me then they are welcome to visit and I will show them around. First Tommy was our bass player. He knew how to keep a song going. He didn't take over, but he fed others to follow and brought out the best in them. He would always tell me how much he loved to "mellow out with me" while I played the chords and he feed the baseline.
He was the most progressive and sacrificial musician I knew. He loved his friends and he wasn't afraid to show it. He always greeted me with a monster hug while his curly hair was flying in the wind. He was all natural. Society could not get its grip on him. He went to the classes he wanted to and didn't go to the classes that got on his nerves.
Teachers always thought he was on drugs, but he was high on life and music. Life itself was his greatest joy and thrill. He didn't need any drugs because he was high on life. He was not afraid of anything.
If it was 11 pm and there was only one way over the river to the other side of the woods and that meant walking on the Burlington not knowing when the next train would come he would risk it. When our drummer Doug was sick at home and his parents were out Tommy took the day off and spent it nursing Doug.
Tommy took risks for his friends. When the band had no gig he found an old church basement and filled it up with people. He was the life of the party even though he was 100% natural.
He lived as if each day was the first and last day of his life. He acted as if he had just been born, not yesterday but this morning. He work up just smiling at the sun and then rolled a couple somersaults on the lawn. He didn't care who was watching or what people thought of him. He loved his life and loved the people around him. He was really a child. We were all kind of children at the time, but he was the most child like.
He will always be remembered forever young. If you have the childlike heart of Tommy then stop by for a three hour tour.
Tommy lived on these beans. The kid had everything in the world, but he lived like his life was held in the hands of the stars.
This is a drawing I made when I was in my Koalo phase. I used the Windows Paint 3d app with Windows 10. Looking back I really enjoyed making cute drawings. Things got busy and I stopped drawing. I hope I can finally get back into it from time to time.
