Let's begin this February with a bit of Indy soul. A lot of the music I post here on Three Tune Tuesday are recorded decades ago, but this week I want to introduce some relatively new funky pieces.
The first is from Divty in OTE feat. I actually have no idea who Divty is except that he is an independent song writer and I truly like his music. If you know anything about Divty or OTE feat let me know. It seems like OTE feat is an avenue into Indy productions. They produced this with Epidemic Sound. They produce a lot of new Indy music and this one is definitely worth listening to.
The title here is so in your face "You'll Get It". Sometimes we don't get it. Sometimes we get it. There's not much to think about. If you got then you got and then you get it on and just let it go all night. The song is not just about dancing all night or about making out, but it is about challenging life's difficulties together. It's a very funky way of saying we can do it.
The second song is from Karen Souza and Toku the Japanese horny horn player. The swing and the smooth charm in this song sounds like it came out of the Jazz Standards from the '40s but this is a fresh and new song that Karen wrote just a couple years ago.
I can listen to Karen and Toku sing the dialog together again and again. They take my breath away because they got that something. It's that something that we can't explain. Sometimes we just can't explain what it is but we know what it is and that's something. That's the sound of the trumpet on this jazz recording.
Karen Souza is something I don't need to explain.
The last song is a simple acoustic song from SlowFly. I think this group is from Estonia. If you like them you can follow them on Fbook. I wonder why people like this never discover the Hive.
The music takes me into a world I knew and had forgotten. It's the acoustic guitar with the steady beat of the drum and piano the makes me drift off into an imaginary dream world. I feel rested as if I have all the time in the world. The music puts me in a trance. The vocals just accentuate the work of the music lifting me up to a summer in the open fields.
It's a world that I think we can go back to, but I really don't see it now. The world i see is a little spiky and not much room to spin around in the grass. She has the same feeling as she says,
"Take me back to those days."
"Day dreamer kidnap me."
I really feel like I am dancing in a beautiful summer meadow free from any worries of strife around me. The song really does a good job of taking me back to my childhood.
Daydreamer kidnapped me and I am running around. It is cold in Korea at the moment but this picture is from last July when I did run around in the fields next to the riverside.
Music makes us young again in so many ways.
