I chose three traditional songs performed with a twist.
It was hard for me to overcome my instinct to pull out old songs I remember from my teenage years for this one. Instead I chose some relatively new recordings.
Music has a way of saying things that I just can't say with words.
This is the Psalm Sunday song that the people sang at his entry into Jerusalem. I like what Christafari does with hymns and praise songs. They give it a dancing beat but slow enough for me to take in the vibe. It's a good way to begin the passion week.
If you haven't heard this yet, please give it a listen. I am still knocked off my seat that the Lord's prayer can be sung with such power.
I love this choir with their expressions and joy. Be on the watch for a surprise finale.
It's important to remember that this is a school that was once segregated by Apartheid but now all people can call out together, "Our Father" making us brothers and sisters.
This is a Scottish group that puts a new punch into Bill Gaither's already powerful praise song.
The drums, fiddle, pipes and flute get me off my feet but I still hear every word and come to the striking conclusion that life is worth a living.
I hope these songs will lift you up and make you smile.
