1. Find the question
A whole lot of unnecessary information is given in test questions that really aren't fair to the test taker. A student needs to look through all the bull shit to see what question is really being answered.
Yesterday I gave a test question to the community titled "Proof of Work". This was mostly for fun to test the thinking patterns of people who follow my blog.
This is the screen shot of the original question from yesterday's post:

Can you figure out the speed of the train?
The possible answers are two:
Yes, I can.
No, I can't.
2. Consider all possible solutions
In this test question we are given four possible solutions
A. All of the above.
B. None of the above.
C. Both A and B.
D. Both C and D.
E. Neither A nor B.
- The answer A ( All of the above) is not valid. There are no solutions above.
- The answer B (None of the above) is valid because A (above B) is not valid.
- The answer C (Both A and B) cannot be possible.
- The answer D (Both C and D) likewise cannot be possible if C is impossible.
- The answer E (Neither A nor B) is not valid because B is valid.
The best answer I could think of is:
B. None of the above. I can't figure out the speed of the train.
I gave prizes to everyone who participated. Considering the question:
Can you figure out the speed of the train?
Almost everyone who entered gave a valid answer and supported their answers.
Yes, I can figure it out.
This answer works because he explained his work. It is also is a correct answer if we assume the train kept the same time as usually and a constant speed and the boy kept his speed constant also. It works and it's the best estimate of the speed we got.
