Cherry?

One of the first true signs of spring in Korea is the Cherry Blossoms. They are shy, but start to come out the first week of April. They will bloom for three or four weeks before the wind and rains knocks off all their petals like fluffy snow.

Along with the new blossoms come the bees and butterflies. The sunshine and mild weather made this weekend perfect for hiking.

Right now we couldn't find many flowers in the mountain but in the neighborhood there were some golden bells and magnolias.

Foot Foot

We did all this exploring by foot. It would a tragedy if we could not find foot foot. This is the song by The Shaggs form the albumn "Philosphy of the World". It's actually not a song about a foot but a song about their lost cat:

My pal's name is Foot Foot (Foot Foot)
He always likes to roam
My pal's name is Foot Foot (Foot Foot)
I never find him home

I go to his house
Knock at his door
People come out and say
Foot Foot don't live here no more

My pal Foot Foot (Foot Foot)
Always likes to roam
My pal Foot Foot (Foot Foot)
Now he has no home

Where will Foot Foot go
What will Foot Foot do
Oh, Foot Foot
I wish I could find you

I've looked here, I've looked there
I've looked everywhere
Oh, Foot Foot
Why can't I find you?
Foot Foot, where can you be?
Foot Foot, why won't you answer me?
Foot Foot, oh, Foot Foot
Wherever you are
I want you to come home with me

I don't have time to roam
I have things to do
I have to go home
Oh, Foot Foot, where are you?

If Foot Foot didn't like to roam so well
He would still have a place to dwell
Foot Foot, please answer me
I know where you are
You're behind that tree

Foot Foot, please come to me
Foot Foot, now that you're here
Won't you come home
Foot Foot, promise me this
That you will never again roam

Wait a second. There's foot foot. I think I found their cat.

That silly cat foot foot.

As stated in Ben Johnson's play:
“Every Cat in His Humor”

Helter skelter, hang sorrow,
care will kill a cat, up-tails all,
and a pox on the hangman.

That poor cat had better return home to these girls if it knows what is good for him.

More Foot

I could talk more about the Shagg's album and the Philosophy of the World, but I'm more interested in the foot at this moment. It was the foot that brought me through the trails and back home. It was the foot that brought me face to face with the cat, the trees and the salamanders.

It was my foot that brought me to work today. If you are interested in the Shagg's whole Albumn then scroll to the link at the bottom of this post. But before you get there I stuck in a little Frank Zappa stink. No, it is not the broken heart asshole song. It's Stink-Foot from 1974.

This song is the agony of anyone who comes back from the muddy spring trails.

In the dark
Where all the fevers grow
Under the water
Where the shark bubbles blow
In the morning
By your radio
Do the walls close in to suffocate, yah
You ain't got no friends
And all the others they hate, yah
Does the life you been leading gotta go? (Hmm?)
(Well let me straighten you out)
About a place I know
(Get your shoes and socks on people, it's right around the corner)
Out through the night and the whispering breezes
To the place where they keep the imaginary diseases
Out through the night and the whispering breezes
To the place where they keep the imaginary diseases
This has got to be the disease for you
Now scientists call this disease, Brohm-a-drosis
But us regular folks, who might wear tennis shoes
or an occasional python boot,
know this exquisite little inconvenience by the name of
STINK-FOOT
You know
My python boot is too tight
I couldn't get it off last night
A week went by
And now it's July
I finally got it off
And my girlfriend cried, YOU GOT STINK-FOOT!
Stink-foot, darlin'
Your Stink-foot
Puts a hurt on my nose
Stink-foot, stink-foot, I ain't lyin'
Can you rinse it off, do you suppose?
(Here Fido, Fido, mpt, mpt, mpt, come here little puppy
Bring the slippers
Arf, arf, arf
(C-R-A-S-H)
Huhm, HAH, HAH, HAH...hmhmhm)
STINK!
Well then Fido got up off the floor, and he rolled over
and he looked me straight in the eye
And you know what he said?
"Once upon a time, somebody say to me"
This is the dog talkin' now
"What is your, conceptual, continuity?"
"Well I told 'em right then", Fido said
"It should be easy to see
"The crux of the biscuit
is the apostrophe"
Well you know, the man that was talking to the dog
looked at the dog, and he said
Sort of staring in disbelief
"You can't say that"
he said
"It doesn't, and you can't, I won't, and it don't
it hasn't, it isn't, it even ain't, and it shouldn't
it couldn't"
He told him, "No, no, no"
I told him, "Yes, yes, yes"
I said, "I do it all the time
Ain't this boogie a mess"?

This song from Frank Zappa can be considered experimental and it is one of the first ASMR songs I have ever heart. I remember my dad hardly ever played this album but every once and a while when his old friend from high school came over he would play this album and freak me out.

I will leave you with more from the Shaggs. Actually this last link is the full album of philosophy of the world. The first song sums up their philosophy of the world.

"You can always be anyone in this world. There will always be one who wants things the opposite way."
