‘The Ocean’, the track I dedicated my very first Steemit post to, is my most recent official release and my most popular track on streaming services such as Spotify. As with quite a few of my other tracks, I also shared ‘The Ocean’ on the Free Music Archive (FMA), an interactive library of high-quality and legal audio downloads. I regularly collaborate with people through this website, especially when it comes to YouTube content. Consequently, the tracks I post on FMA often end up as the soundtrack to a wide range of YouTube videos. I don’t get paid for this (FMA downloads are generally free), but I really enjoy exploring the ways my music is being used on YouTube.
‘The Ocean’ has shown to be especially popular amongst people uploading drone footage. This led me to the idea of creating a ‘music video’ for the track, using people’s ocean-related drone footage that actually uses ‘The Ocean’ as (part of) it’s soundtrack (are you still with me?? :-) ). After contacting a number of these drone video creators, I managed to obtain enough video footage to create a video. I’ve added the locations where the footage was shot in each of the video snippets. Luckily I was able to also include some footage of the Gili Islands in Indonesia, the place where I spent three months of my life (on Gili Air, to be exact) developing my scuba diving skills up to the Dive Master level!
