Last December the BBC, Forbes and others ran this article about 830 million job losses due to automation by 2030. Of those losses 73 million are projected to be in the United States. Since working robots don’t pay taxes or contribute to Social Security this will have a profound impact on America.
I will find it interesting to see if people will continue to vote for tax breaks and neoliberal policies when they have no job prospects.
The only difference between the modern Luddite movement and climate change deniers is, in my opinion, that we now have the opportunity to act BEFORE we cause damage to society and our economies.
But will we do it?
