Good afternoon, everyone. I'm back with you to share my new story. It's about Boyd. He's a sound mixer. Something happened to him because of one of his bad habits. Do you want to know what happened? Well, if you're interested, I'll tell you in a few moments. I hope you enjoy it. With that said, let's begin. > Buenas tardes para todos queridos amigos. Estoy acá de regreso con ustedes para compartirles mi nueva historia. Esta es sobre Boyd. El es un mezclador de sonido. Por una de sus malas cualidades le ocurrió algo. ¿Quieren saber que le ocurrió? Bueno pues si desean saberlo se los contaré en unos instantes en la historia. Espero que les guste, dicho esto arrancamos.

Boyd is what you'd call a lucky guy. He's very careless and doesn't take important jobs seriously enough. But to everyone's surprise, almost everything he does turns out well. He works as a sound mixer for parties and big concerts. He also does DJ work in his free time. Many times he's arrived late to gigs or very stressed, even drunk, and everything has gone smoothly. Those in his inner circle who know him are amazed at how he manages to make things work, no matter how careless he is. That's why he's considered a lucky guy. Boyd himself doesn't consider himself lucky; he thinks it's all down to his skill. And in a way, he's right. He has many years of experience in this profession and knows how to do his job very well. So he thinks that if he's been successful, it's not thanks to luck, but because he's put in the effort. For this reason, he tends to be very confident in what he does. He loves doing things his way, regardless of whether he's under a deadline. He had never had a bad experience at work, so he wasn't too worried about what might happen; he trusted that his skill would always get him out of trouble. > Boyd es lo que se llama un tipo con suerte. Es muy descuidado y no le da seriedad suficiente ha los trabajos importantes. Pero para sorpresa de todos casi todo lo que hace le sale bien. Trabaja como mezclador de sonido para fiestas y para grandes conciertos. También en su tiempo libre suele hacer trabajos de DJ. Muchas veces ha llegado tarde a los conciertos o muy estresado, incluso hasta borracho y todo le ha salido bien. Los de su círculo cercano que lo conocen se sorprenden al ver como es posible que el logre que las cosas no fallen por muy despreocupado que sea. Por eso es que es considerado un tipo con suerte. > Boyd mismo no se considera con suerte, el piensa que todo es obra de su habilidad. Y de cierto modo tiene razón. El tiene muchos años a sus espaldas en este oficio y sabe trabajar muy bien lo que hace. Así que el piensa que si le ha ido bien no es gracias a la suerte es que él se ha esforzado. Por esta razón suele confiarse mucho en lo que hace. Le encanta hacer las cosas a su modo y sin importar que esté en tiempo límite. Nunca había vivido una mala experiencia en su trabajo así que no se preocupaba mucho por lo que pudiera pasar, confiaba en que su habilidad siempre pudiera sacarlo de los problemas.

But overconfidence is a bad thing, and when you cross the line, things can happen that you later regret. Boyd learned this the hard way. A singer wanted to give a live concert for his fans. And since Boyd had a good reputation in the industry for always doing a good job, he was hired. The singer didn't know that Boyd was a bit lazy and had a tendency to leave everything to the last minute. So, perhaps by sheer luck, they gave him this job for that day. This job was different from the others because this wasn't just any singer; he was coming from another country to sing for his local fans, so there was a lot of excitement involved, and money. Boyd was tasked with preparing the sound mixes for the event. He just had to arrange the songs and then mix them with effects. It sounded easy, and he had done it dozens of times before. The event was in a month, so there would be plenty of time to do everything. The singer had also detailed how he wanted the songs to be in order, so rehearsals wouldn't even be necessary. Besides, Boyd's experience worked in his favor. He had plenty of time to prepare everything, so he didn't attach much importance to it at the moment. > Pero el exceso de confianza es malo, y cuando se cruzan los limites pueden ocurrir cosas de las cuales luego nos arrepintamos. Boyd tuvo que comprobarlo por las malas. Un cantante quería dar un concierto en vivo para sus fans. Y como Boyd tenía buena reputación en la industria de que siempre hacia un buen trabajo fue contratado. El cantante no sabía que el era un poco perezoso y con tendencia de dejarlo todo para último minuto. Así que por cosas quizás de la suerte le dieron este trabajo para ese día. Este trabajo era diferente a los otros porque este no era cualquier cantante, venía de otro país para cantar para sus fans locales, así que había mucha ilusión de por medio y dinero. > Le encargaron a Boyd preparar las mezclas de sonido para el evento. Solo tenía que ordenar las canciones y luego hacer mezclas con efectos con ellas. Sonaba fácil y ya él lo había hecho desenas de veces. El evento sería en un mes, así que habría suficiente tiempo para hacer todo. El cantante le había detallado también como quería el orden de las canciones que no tendrían ni que hacerse ensayos, además la experiencia de Boyd jugaba a su favor. El tenía mucho tiempo para preparar todo así que no le dio mucha importancia de momento.

Meanwhile, Boyd started procrastinating, letting time slip away. He said things turned out better under pressure. His way of seeing things was literally different from everyone else's. With just under three weeks to go, he went to the beach for a relaxing vacation, and between beers and rum, the days flew by. He usually turned off his phone so no one would bother him. But at the same time, this prevented his colleagues from warning him that time was running out. After he returned from his vacation, some colleagues went to see him at his apartment. They were scared and hysterical about all the time he had wasted at the beach. He hadn't even set foot in the editing studio to check the mixes. But he reassured them, telling them to remember how many times he had done the same thing and it always turned out well; there was no reason it would go wrong. He also reminded them that they called him the lucky guy, and he hadn't earned that nickname for nothing. After those words, they calmed down, but they were still nervous because the singer demanded perfection and didn't want anything to go wrong. With less than four days to go, Boyd still hadn't done anything. His friends, thinking that with so little time left, he would at least have done something on his computer at home. But he still hadn't done a thing. On the last day, he went out partying with his brother. He spent the whole night at a club and drank a lot of alcohol. The next day, he woke up at home lying in bed, not even knowing how he'd gotten there. His brother had driven him. He spent the whole day with a hangover, and around 3 p.m., he was feeling better. Suddenly, his coworkers came to pick him up, and he asked them, through his dark circles, what they wanted. They started laughing because they thought he was joking. They told him it was for the concert. Then he understood everything: he had procrastinated to the max, and now the concert was just hours away, and he still hadn't done a thing. But Ron wasn't discouraged; he'd done this before, so he was confident his skill, or perhaps luck, would help him this time. So they all piled into the car and headed out to the concert. > Mientras tanto Boyd empezó a procrastinar, y dejar pasar el tiempo. Decía que las cosas con presión salen mejor. Su modo de ver las cosas era literalmente diferente al de las demás personas. Faltando poco menos de tres semanas de fue para la playa de vacaciones a pasarla bien, y entre las cervezas y el ron se le fueron los días. Solía apagar el teléfono para que nadie lo molestara. Pero a la vez esto impedía que sus amigos de trabajos le advirtieran que el tiempo apremiaba. Luego de llegar de sus vacaciones algunos colegas fueron a verlo a su apartamento. Estabas asustados e histéricos por todo el tiempo que había perdido en la playa. Ni siquiera había pisado el estudio de edición para comprobar las mezclas. > Pero el los tranquilizó diciéndole que recordaran las de veces que había hecho lo mismo y que siempre salía bien, no había motivos que saliera mal. También les recordó que ellos le decían el tipo con suerte y ese nombre no se lo había ganado por gusto. Luego de esas palabras ellos se tranquilizaron pero estaban nerviosos porque el cantante exigía perfección y no quería que nada fallara. Faltando menos de 4 días Boyd aún no había hecho nada. Sus amigos esta vez pensando que faltaba tan poco al menos en casa habría hecho algo en su PC. Pero aún no había realizado nada. Faltando un día el se fue de fiesta con su hermano. Se pasó toda la noche en una discoteca y tomó mucho alcohol. > Al otro día amaneció en su casa acostado en la cama, ni siquiera sabía cómo había llegado ahí. Su hermano lo había traído en su auto. Se pasó todo el día con resaca, y cerca de las 3 de la tarde ya estaba más recuperado. De pronto sus colegas de trabajo vinieron a recogerlo, y el les dijo entre sus ojeras que era lo que querían. Ellos empezaron a reírse, porque pensaban que bromeaba. Le dijeron entonces que para el concierto. Entonces el entendió todo, había procrastinado al máximo y ahora estaba a horas del concierto y aún no había echo nada. Pero Ron no se desesperó, el ya había hecho esto en otras ocasiones así que confiaba que su habilidad o quizás la suerte lo ayudara esta vez. Así que se montaron todo el auto y salieron para el concierto.

When they arrived at the concert, Boyd started working at full speed, barely looking at the keys. But in less than an hour, everything was ready. He had worked incredibly fast, but this time, for some reason, he had a bad feeling. The concert began, and the music started. The singer began to sing and asked them to start the sound mixing and effects. The first few songs were good, so everything seemed perfect. But then everything started to go wrong. The effects didn't match the songs, the music was at the wrong volume, and the mixes weren't arranged as the singer had requested. As a result, the concert had to end early, and Boyd's reputation was tarnished. He had left too much to chance, and this time it failed him. For the first time, he recognized the dangers of leaving everything to the last minute. If he wants to recover his reputation and reach his former level, he must strive to change, but it depends on him. For now, he's just a guy, but no longer a lucky one. > Cuando llegaron al concierto Boyd se puso a trabajar a toda velocidad, no miraba ni las teclas. Pero en menos de una hora tuvo todo listo. Había trabajado a toda velocidad, pero esta vez por alguna razón tenía un mal presentimiento. Comenzó el concierto, y la música arrancó. El cantante empezó a cantar y pidió que iniciaran las mezclas de sonido y los efectos. Las primeras canciones estaban bien así que todo marchaba perfecto. Pero luego todo empezó a ir mal. Los efectos no coincidían con las canciones, la música tenía mal el volumen, las mezclas no estaban organizadas como pidió el cantante. El resultado el concierto tuvo que acabar antes de tiempo y la reputación de Boyd quedó manchada. > Había dejado demasiado a la suerte y esta vez le falló. Por primera vez reconoció lo malo de dejar todo para el final. Si el quiere ahora recuperar su reputación y lograr el nivel que tenía antes debe esforzarse por cambiar, pero depende de el. Por ahora solo es un tipo, pero ya no con suerte.
