We were greeted by a lovely waitress as we entered and we omitted to peruse the menu, as our quest was for coffee and the cake that was on display.
My mate went for a slice of cheesecake, and I could not resist the moist, sumptuous, mouth-watering slice of lemon drizzle cake with icing.
The presentation was equally appealing as the waitress who served us, and my only thoughts were that I wished both the coffee cup and the slice of cake were as voluptuous as she was.
I felt an instant aesthetic attraction for the waitress; Her skin looked moist, and the colours of her clothing complimented her light olive tone nicely. She wore well-fitted beige corduroy straight-legged trousers, and an olive green off the shoulder peasant top that accentuated her small waist. Her attire was unique and comfortable and complimented her body type, and she exuded confidence in a free, natural way.
A myriad of thoughts ran through my mind, which might have been from the activated neurons in my brain from drinking this rich, foamy cappuccino, or the satisfying feeling I got from the moist lemon drizzle, or was it this triggered by the colour of the cups? I'm not sure, however, I thought about how complicated human nature and attraction are.
At that moment, my mind reflected on a brief comment from my philosophy professor in one of my critical thinking classes. One discussion led to a comment that "men are naturally attracted to men" but somehow we never got back to discuss the topic as we had intended.
Do you think there's truth and possible scenarios that could indicate so?
Or do you need to pour a coffee to help you process that idea?
My thoughts are that in a living space without any gender roles in mind, men and men are more compatible than men and women, and vice versa. Women and women are more compatible, yet generally, I'm more masculine-wired and relate better to men.
For example: Sometimes there are challenges in a marriage that start from minor things that fester and lead to frustration, until a couple gets on each other nerves. One simple scenario is the toilet seat. Do you know how many couples argue about the right or wrong position of the toilet seat?
I would prefer to see the toilet seat down, but I rationalise that my husband probably might also prefer to see the seat up, so I let it go.
Do you ever wonder or feel uncomfortable by unusual thoughts, feelings, and attraction, or do you have the courage to explore them?
I've always been comfortable examining my thoughts and feelings as I have a great ability to separate and understand different attractions that I have for the same or opposite sex and understand that those attractions fluctuate and can change at any given time, and is nothing abnormal.
I do not follow templates or appreciate labels, but I would be regarded as a heterosexual, and would not harbour any idea of an open marriage. Still, I acknowledge that my attraction capabilites are highly complicated. I stumbled upon this article which discuses the types of attraction, and I was not surprised to see that several types are applicable to me, feel free to see if you tick any of them.
