Flat White is a fairly new term to me that I only discovered about 3 years ago. I have my daily coffee black and cappuccino is my preferred milky coffee. However, for the past 3 months, I have a latte at my Sunday pub lunch and it has been perfect.
I think preferences for coffee changes and many factors determine that, as you've mentioned.
