I am picturing what you said about the building. We discovered that in Osaka too. the elevator on a building opened up, and we were right there in the restaurant. It's unusual, as you expect to have to walk through a hall/corridor or something, but no, you are right there.
I guess someone would have to witness it to understand how odd it is.
I'd definitely go for the green tea macaroons:)
