I want to share the music I've come across that has a certain quality to it, which is rare and hard to find. The kind of music that moves you so deeply in a way that you can't understand or describe. The lyrics or music or video may make no sense to your brain, but it does to your soul. It's extremely cathartic and inspiring.
With increasing access to powerful computers, Internet, DAW softwares, loads of VST instruments and samples, and free music hosting sites like Bandcamp, all instantly available with a quick web search, it's becoming more and more easy for anyone to make music without needing years of experience and practice on expensive instruments - just need a computer with an Internet connection, and creativity. I think this is why interest in synth music has exploded in recent times, bringing back the vibe of a lot of retro/80s themes. There are entire rabbit holes online dedicated to synthwave, retrowave, chillwave, darksynth, cyberpunk, and many other similar genre names, and there are countless YouTube compilations where you can discover great music in these styles.
"Night Distance" is is a wonderful example of how soothing synth music can be. You might think that with such a saturated music scene online, it's all just regurgitated dead sounds. That couldn't be further from the truth. Yes, there is some cookie-cutter music out there, but you'll find that a lot of very original, creative, and powerful music has bloomed from today's ease of production, and this is the music that rises above the rest. Some artists stand out in this niche community more than others, and it's because of the quality of their music, not because they're being fed to you like a lot of mainstream music is these days. These synth fans value the music for the sake of music, and the artists who gain popularity in this community have earned it.
