In earlier days
I sought an escape
From the mundane
This earthly plane
The fractals and patterns
The ethereal sensations
The euphoria and excitement
The indescribable musical experience
Some fun spiritual adventure
But it couldn't last forever
Open your mind too far
And then you find the dark
It's stuck in your mind and plagues your heart
Then it takes a long time to heal those scars
They were always inside, no matter how far
But now they're right beside you and you're forced to restart
In earlier days
I sought an escape
From the mundane
This earthly plane
What I didn't know was
THIS IS the spirit world
If you choose to see it as such
And I swear it's very real
Life is the trip
And you can live it if you wish
This is the real trip
And you can heal if you wish
And it's not so mundane
It's fucking insane
It's hard to explain
Try to reset your brain:
Think about existence
That there's even such a thing as humans
It is no delusion
Can you believe these things happen?
We forget our true nature
And get hung up on hate or fear
But we're all in this together
Love is what really matters
Pain is still pain
And we are all the same
Yet unique in many ways
Why discriminate?
Forget all your old concepts
And see what's left
A symphony of souls doing their best
Not to drown in a sea of chaos
We're all alive... right?
It's so raw and primal
We only think of fight or flight
We can't thrive if it's all survival
We're all alive, in the flesh
Never very far from death
We each strive to feel the best
Often forgetting about the rest
We all feel... Don't we?
It's so raw and primal
It goes so deep for so many
I think that defines the soul
Shouldn't this be our priority?
Easing others' struggles?
Shouldn't that be our aim?
Preventing others' pain?
What do you really want from life?
You know it, somewhere deep inside
You'll have purpose and meaning if you try and try
Move closer to your dreams one step at a time
One day at a time
It hurts, sure, but pain is inevitable
Whether you take life as a daring adventure
Or try to escape, run, cower in fear
One way is a life full of living
The other way is a life of slowly dying
When you're on your deathbed
What choices would you want to look back upon?
