Leader of the Pack 🐆🐅🐈

Artist Talent Level - Intermediate

This is my third entry into the CYOA- Artist Category in the Zealy campaign. I have tried my best to produce yet another intuitive art, and this time the theme is "a proud Lion surrounded by his pride (pack/family)".

This task requires not just one Lion, but a Lion a with lead role surrounded by his pride. A herd. A collective symbolization, a collective conscious. Fundamentally they belong to a tribe and they demonstrate immense loyalty to that tribe.

This is a leader pack entry, therefore the leader is the central theme of this task. We all know crown attributes kingship. So I contemplated the idea of sprucing up the Lion with a crown.

Concept

A Lion by default symbolizes glory, kingship, etc. The unique characteristics of lions are that they live in a group(also called as pride) and they have immense loyalty to that group. They are so organized that for the hunt they split into different sub-group and when they find their prey and entrap it, they regroup again to enjoy their meal(the payoff).

Each pride has its well-defined territory. And they proclaim their dominion by roaring. If we draw a simulation with the tokenized society, we also live in different niches on Hive Blockchain and we demonstrate our social characteristics in that niche. Those with untiring consistency, correct process, and long-term objective become the leader of the pride.

We continue to thrive and live as a tribe, we also crave out space for individuals. But when it comes to incentivization/economy we make sure everyone wins(of course, subject to their effort). The leader pack signifies that everyone has the potential to become a leader in this tribe. But it's a long-drawn process and it also entails a sense of responsibility, the consciousness of territorial existence, i.e. the tribe, the niche where we engage daily.

Process

First I started plotting the outline of the Leader, Lion's face and main body, then the rear body and tail. I tried to project the mane of the Lion and placed two cubs one in front of it and the other on the rear back.

This task requires more than one Lion to signify a pride. So I started drawing other adults Lions in such a way that they perfectly signify a cohesive herd. I carefully sketch the nose, and eye area and darken it locally so that they look more real. And I did not go for adding shade rigorously throughout the body; tried to render it simple yet catchy.

I spruce up the Leader with a crown, that really gives a sense of kingship. It took more time compared to the previous two entries. But I think the artwork is getting better, although far from perfect.

This pride signifies protection for their cubs, territorial domination, payoff, responsibility, and a strong legacy.

I tried my best to make it at least an OKAY type art, I am in the process of learning, and in this ongoing quest, I will try to improve as I proceed to the next task.
