Money Heist – when rebellion becomes a science / Money Heist - Quando la ribellione diventa scienza [ENG/ITA]
We should all now at this point the TV serie Money Heist. From the robbery to the Royal Mint and the Bank of Spain. Those two targets are clearly the symbols of the wealth and the power of the government. Going against those two institutions is clearly a challenge with “head high” like Nickelback would sing in the song “Edge of a Revolution”, that I link here for the passionate.
A questo punto dovremmo tutti conoscere la serie TV Money Heist. Dalla rapina alla Zecca Reale alla Banca di Spagna. Questi due obiettivi sono chiaramente i simboli della ricchezza e del potere del governo. Andare contro queste due istituzioni è decisamente una sfida a "testa alta" come canterebbero i Nickelback nella canzone "Edge of a Revolution", che linko qui per gli appassionati.
I have to be honest: a few years ago I watched Money Heist because a guy I was helping with mathematics and physics told me: “Hey Mike, you are really looking like the Professor”. And I told him: “Hey Kikko, I understand that. I am teaching you some tough things. That makes sense”. But he answered: “No Mike, you can’t tell me. You have not started watching Money Heist. You are too similar to the Professor. You always have an answer to everything that happens. Even the worst ones”.
That created my curiosity in digging deeper and watching that TV serie. Of course that became an addiction and I truly fell in a platonic love with the character of the Professor, Sergio Marquina.
And well, guess what was the cover of my book about cryptocurrencies?
Devo essere onesto: qualche anno fa ho guardato Money Heist perché un ragazzo che stavo aiutando con la matematica e la fisica mi ha detto: "Ehi Mike, assomigli proprio al professore". E io gli dissi: "Ehi Kikko, lo capisco: ti sto insegnando delle cose difficili. Questo ha senso". Ma lui rispose: "No Mike, non puoi dirmelo. Non hai iniziato a guardare Money Heist! Sei troppo simile al professore. Hai sempre una risposta a tutto quello che succede. Anche alle peggiori".
Questo ha creato la mia curiosità di scavare più a fondo e guardare quella serie TV. Naturalmente è diventata una dipendenza e mi sono veramente innamorato platonicamente del personaggio del professore, Sergio Marquina.
E bene, indovinate quale è stata la copertina del mio libro sulle criptovalute?
Stealing money from the system: a sort of “prohibited tale”, where all kids learn how to make good out of their actions, here is a bad action for a good purpose. And taking a bad action against an unfair player? Where is the boundary of disqualification?
Anyway, let’s get back to why I am matching about Money Heist and cryptocurrencies. And here I give you a couple of images.
Rubare soldi dal sistema: una sorta di "racconto proibito", dove tutti i bambini imparano a fare del bene con le loro azioni, ecco un'azione cattiva per uno scopo buono. E fare un'azione cattiva contro un giocatore sleale? Dov'è il confine della squalifica?
Comunque, torniamo al motivo per cui sono in corrispondenza di Money Heist e delle criptovalute. E qui vi do un paio di immagini.

The second chart, starting from 2013 until today, represents the volume of purchased cryptocurrencies in Russia through the LocalBitcoin exchange.
When hyper-inflation was rising in Venezuela and when Russia was banned from SWIFT banking network, people simply started to move their hope into cryptocurrencies.
From what I heard, Venezuelans could not buy American Dollars and they could not transport gold outside the country. In Italy we say “a mali estremi, estremi rimedi” that is like “desperate times call for desperate measures”, meaning that when the game starts escalating, then greys are no more allowed.
And here it comes another thought, about why China banned cryptocurrencies: mined cryptos were virgin, untraceable and potentially non-identifiable. A full bug into the spider-net.
So, why into Money Heist, the Professor’s gang was not interested in hacking the software of a bank or steal a transportation of money? Because in that case they would be addressed like any other thief: a band of terrorists, fraudsters and more.
So no. They wanted to send a message. They wanted to let people know that every system can be defeated by people with the right skills and determination.
Le me be crystal clear. I am not saying that I am studying how to rob a bank or worse. I am just saying that the reality as we are used to see it, it’s not always the only choice that we have. Sometimes we just need go look beyond the boundaries and embrace ourselves!
I enjoyed Money Heist really a lot. The concept, the idea, the planning, the cast. And the relationship of financial rebellion that reminded me the crypto-space from the first time I watched it.
I hope you will get inspired too, but keep in mind the Gandhi way of acting. I truly believe that non-violence and rectitude will always bring better and brighter results in the long term. I do not trust shortcuts.

Quando l'iper-inflazione stava aumentando in Venezuela e quando la Russia è stata bandita dalla rete bancaria SWIFT, le persone hanno semplicemente iniziato a spostare la loro speranza nelle criptovalute.
Da quello che ho sentito, i venezuelani non potevano comprare dollari americani e non potevano trasportare oro fuori dal paese. In Italia diciamo "a mali estremi, estremi rimedi": intendendo che quando il gioco inizia a degenerare, allora le regole non sono più rispettate.
E qui viene un altro pensiero, sul perché la Cina ha bandito le criptovalute: le criptovalute minate erano vergini, irrintracciabili e potenzialmente non identificabili. Un bug completo nella rete a ragnatela.
Quindi, perché in Money Heist, la banda del professore non era interessata a violare il software di una banca o a rubare un trasporto di denaro? Perché in quel caso sarebbero stati affrontati come qualsiasi altro ladro: una banda di terroristi, truffatori e altro.
Quindi no. Volevano mandare un messaggio. Volevano far sapere alla gente che ogni sistema può essere sconfitto da persone con le giuste capacità e determinazione.
Permettetemi di essere chiaro. Non sto dicendo che sto studiando come rapinare una banca o peggio. Sto solo dicendo che la realtà come siamo abituati a vederla, non è sempre l'unica scelta che abbiamo. A volte dobbiamo solo guardare oltre i confini e abbracciare noi stessi!
Money Heist mi è piaciuto davvero molto. Il concetto, l'idea, la pianificazione, il cast. E il rapporto di ribellione finanziaria che mi ha ricordato il cripto-spazio dalla prima volta che l'ho guardato.
Spero che anche voi sarete ispirati, ma tenete a mente il modo di agire di Gandhi. Credo veramente che la non violenza e la rettitudine porteranno sempre risultati migliori e più brillanti a lungo termine. Non mi fido delle scorciatoie.
