HIV:
Congo Kamerun
Poland
A retrovirus closely related to HIV (or a mild version of HIV) brought to Europe and originating from Congo by the Cameroon German colony. The epidemic started in the Free City of Danzig in 1939 and then spread to nearby countries.
The absence of Black Plague in Bohemia and Poland is commonly explained by the rats' avoidance of these areas due to the unavailability of food the rodents found palatable.
Zaire Colony
Eastern European Jews from Romania and Poland first arrived in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC; formerly the Republic of Zaire) in 1907.
Following these immigrants, several Jewish families arrived from South Africa and the Land of Israel. In 1911, Sephardic Jews from the island of Rhodes settled in the Congo. That same year, the Communauté du Congo Belge et du Ruanda-Urundi, the Jewish community center, was established.
In 1930, the first synagogue was consecrated in Elisabethville. Most of the Eastern European Jews left in the 1930s because of a severe economic crisis. From 1937, Rabbi Moses Levy had led the Jewish communities of the Congo and Ruanda-Urandi. After World War I and II, however, many Jewish refugees from Eastern and Southern Europe came to the Congo.
Prior to the establishment of the State of Israel, numerous Zionist organizations were organized in the Congo. All Zionist activities were headed by the Association Sioniste du Congo Belge.
OTRAG:
Lutz Kayser
Africa SpaceX
OTRAG (Orbital Transport and Rockets, Inc.), was a German company based in Stuttgart, in the late 1970s planned to develop an alternative propulsion system for rockets. Dr. Wernher von Braun served as scientific adviser to Kayser.
In the face of doubts by Debus and von Braun, Kayser chose in 1975 to set up testing and launch facilities in Shaba, Zaire (now Katanga Province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo).
Leopard Society
The Leopard Society, also known as Ekpe or Mgbe, was the oldest of the Cross River secret societies in West Africa and known as Anyoto or Aniota in Central Africa. They were centred in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Côte d'Ivoire and Nigeria.
Kamerun was an African colony of the German Empire from 1884 to 1916 in the region of today's Republic of Cameroon. Kamerun also included northern parts of Gabon and the Congo with western parts of the Central African Republic, southwestern parts of Chad and far eastern parts of Nigeria.
Neukamerun was the name of Central African territories ceded by the Third French Republic to the German Empire in 1911. Upon taking office in 1907, Theodor Seitz, governor of Kamerun, advocated the acquisition of territories from the French Congo. Germany's only major river outlet from its Central African possessions was the Congo River.
The Treaty of Fes, officially the Treaty Concluded Between France and Morocco on March 30, 1912, for the Organization of the French Protectorate in the Sherifien Empire.
During World War I, France was eager to regain the territories. In 1916, France seized the territories after the fall of German forces in western Africa. France took control of Cameroun as a League of Nations mandate.
