The "Clade X" exercise held on May 15th 2018 simulated an outbreak of a genetically engineered virus, which was called a "Nipah/parainfluenza hybrid" in a paper authored by the designers of the exercise (https://www.liebertpub.com/doi/10.1089/hs.2019.0097). Perhaps coincidentally, 4 days later on May 19th, a Nipah virus outbreak was reported in Kerala. The Clade X exercise was announced in November 2017 (http://www.centerforhealthsecurity.org/newsroom/center-news/2017/2017-11-16_clade-x-pandemic-tabletop-exercise.html), even though the term "Disease X" was introduced to the public only in Febuary 2018. So I don't know if the Kerala Nipah outbreak was supposed to be Disease X.
