My son is having a terrible time keeping up with 6th grade homework. Particularly in Social Studies. He loves history, just not the ancient history they are studying this year. So he rebels by not doing assignments and coming up with excuses.
At one point he had a 45 in the class. This is an A-B student with a failing grade in what should be a fun subject for him.
Fortunately, we were able to wrangle together the missing assignments and get him back up to a C, with time left in the semester to pull it to a B if he sets his mind to it.
The biggest issue is, half the missing work was already done, he just hadn’t turned it in, or forgot to put his name on it, or some other silly thing that kept him from getting credit.
Anyone else have issues with children and homework?? How do you make progress with a reluctant student? I’m at my wits end on this one!!!
