The point of maximum danger is the point of minimum fear.
Preferably we go out of the way the things we fear.
Understandably, but confrontation often works better.
It is unfortunate if you go through your fearful events in life.
These four advices will help you get rid of your fears:
Look for the danger.
However difficult you find it: expose yourself to the danger you are so afraid of. Research shows that this is the best way to overcome fear.
By enduring the anxious thoughts and the associated tension you notice that the world does not go away.
The more you have a fearful situation, the more your self-confidence grows.
The risk of danger is exacerbated by fear.
Develop alternative expectations.
Fearful thoughts usually occur in the form of an expectation that something is going to happen.
For example, fear of flying is a major part of the fear of crashing, while the probability is exceptionally small.
Not the statistical facts, but superstitions and emotions determine your fear.
Remember that there are several alternative expectations for every anxious expectation.
If your first thought is, for example, "I'll be stuck in the elevator," then say to yourself, "even if I get stuck, I won't choke."
Write down the benefits of your fear.
It does not only have disadvantages to be anxious. It often gives you extra attention, everyone takes care of you and you are exempt from ' scary ' activities.
You get more insight into your fear behavior by making a list of all the advantages and disadvantages.
How pleasant does your life look when you are redeemed of your fear? What are the drawbacks of the change? How do family members adapt to your fears? What will change in it if you have overcome your fear?
