Sombra Sonriente - Smiling Shadow

I'll start with this series that you've probably seen different adaptations on the web. Good silhouettes are formed with a zenithal or frontal light. In this case it was with the midday sun that I took these photos.

Comenzaré con esta serie que seguramente has visto diferentes adaptaciones en la web. Se forman buenas siluetas con una luz cenital o frontal. En este caso fue con el sol del medio día que tomé estas fotos.

I added some yellow flowers that simulate the eyes and a green leaf that represents a smile. With these elements I built a happy face.

The complicated part of this series was to place myself underneath to create a face. The pose was a bit difficult because I had to look for the harmony of the silhouette. I had to lower the torso forward while Diego was taking different shots.

Agregué unas flores amarillas que simulan ser los ojos y una hoja verde que hace las veces de una sonrisa. Con estos elementos construí un rostro feliz.

Lo complicado de esa serie fue situarme debajo para generar un rostro. La pose fue un poco difícil porque había que buscar la armonía de la silueta. Tuve que bajar el torso hacia adelante mientras Diego hacía varias capturas.

I liked the result. The main theme is laughter or happiness, although there is also a kind of tenderness in each of the images. For some reason, it gives me the feeling of seeing a clown portrayed on the floor.

Me gustó el resultado. El tema principal es la risa o felicidad, aunque también hay una suerte de ternura en cada una de las imágenes. Por algún motivo, me da la sensación de ver a un payaso retratado en el suelo.

Caballo Galopando - Galloping Horse

Conceiving this idea was complicated. It took me a couple of hours before I made the first click, I spent a lot of time looking for the most compositional elements, as well as the right angle, and although it is said to be easy, it wasn't easy at all.

Concebir esta idea fue complicado. Duré un par de horas antes de hacer el primer click, me demoré buscando la mayor cantidad de elementos de composición, además del ángulo adecuado y aunque se dice fácil, para nada lo fue.

I changed hundreds of times the elements that were present in the scene. At some point I had 4 more than the ones you can see. These were a cart, a doll, a ceramic house, another bush and two square boxes.

In the end, I opted for only two elements, the horse and the small dry tree. But I had the same hesitation with finding the right angles to make the pictures look great.

Cambié cientos de veces lo que estaba en la escena. En algún momento tenía 4 elementos más de los que se pueden ver. Estos era un carro, un muñeco, una casa de cerámica, otro arbusto y dos cajas cuadradas.

Al final, me decanté por solo dos elementos, el caballo y el pequeño árbol seco. Pero esa misma duda la tuve con hallar los ángulos correctos para que las fotografías lucieran geniales.

Another aspect to consider here was the distance of the light from the phone, moving it a few millimeters generated a totally different visual than the one we see. The same happened with the height of the light source.

Otro aspecto a considerar acá era la distancia de la luz del teléfono, al moverla unos milímetros se generaba una visual totalmente diferente a la que vemos. Lo mismo ocurría con la altura de la fuente de luz.

In spite of everything, I am very satisfied with the result. I liked the simplicity the most and therefore I only chose two elements.

A pesar de todo, estoy muy satisfecho con el resultado. Lo simple fue lo que más me gustó y por ello solo elegí dos elementos.

Nahomy entre Sombras - Nahomy between Shadows

This was another series that cost me a lot, both because Nahomy is very restless and because the focus of the phone was very erratic with the movement of what we use to generate the shadows and because my niece gets impatient hehe.

I tried with various elements that I was looking for at home. I tried a lot of photos that were out of focus and that I didn't like because of how the shadows looked on her face.

Esta fue otra serie que me costó mucho, tanto porque Nahomy es muy inquieta y porque el enfoque del teléfono era muy errático con el movimiento de lo que usamos para generar las sombras y porque mi sobrina que se impacienta jeje.

Probé con varios elementos que fui buscando en mi casa. Intenté muchísimas fotos que quedaron desenfocadas y que no me gustaban por cómo se veían las sombras en su cara.

First I got a ruler to draw ovals and with that I took this pictures, while Diego held the light and the square.

I changed the angle many times and I couldn't find one that I liked, but I always remember the maxim of photography of trying different perspectives until we found one that we liked.

Primero conseguí una regla para hacer óvalos y con eso hice las fotos, mientras Diego sostenía la luz y la escuadra.

Cambié muchísimas veces el ángulo y no daba con alguno que me gustara, pero siempre recuerdo la máxima de la fotografía de ir probando con perspectivas hasta dar con alguna que nos agrade.

I tried dive and dive angles and it didn't work. It was the front shot and a side shot that I loved. Then, the hard part was getting a pose or expression that worked.

This was the most artistic series as it depended on the impact of the shadows on the face and not on the inanimate walls or floor.

Probé con ángulos en picado y contrapicado y no resultó. Fue la toma frontal y una lateral las que me gustaron. Luego, lo difícil fue conseguir una pose o expresión que me agradara.

Esta fue la serie más artística ya que dependía del impacto de las sombras sobre la cara y no sobre la inanimada paredes o piso.

As you can see folks, we just have to put our creativity and patience to achieve something different. This is a style of photography where it is difficult to transcend. However, you have to try and have fun.

At first, I wanted to go out to the street to hunt shadows of unknown people and I didn't do it because the day was quite cloudy. There was very little sunshine today.

Como ven amigos, solo hay que poner de nuestra creatividad y paciencia para lograr algo diferente. Este es un estilo de fotografía donde es difícil trascender. Sin embargo, hay que intentarlo y divertirse.

En un principio, quise salir a la calle a cazar sombras de personas desconocida y no lo hice porque el día estaba bastante nublado. Salió muy poco sol hoy.
