Since the fear reaction is based on feelings, it is really difficult to change ones mind. We are ultrasocial species, so takes a lot of effort not to run down the cliff with everyone else.

Our brains are basically randomness generators, so logical thinking is usually simulated. The problem is there, that many are trained to think they are thinking logically, but still doing the dumbest things.

Basically all we can do is offer support to get over the phobias, while sharing information in a simple and understandable form. We can be more cruel things to each other than any other mammals, but also can make strong bonding relationships, if we give up all the bullshit :)
