Mat 14:20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. Mat 14:21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

Years ago I was in Bulgaria, traveling throughout the country preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. On the this particular day we were in Russe, Bulgaria and were having church services, but this night we were doing something for the children. One of our team was a youth pastor and much preparation was made for this night where they estimated 100 children would attend. Each one of us on our team brought two suitcases. One for our own belongings and the other had large ziplock bags filled with an assortment of things for the children. While still in the USA, we portioned out into each bag, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, pens, pencils, markers and much more. This may sound little, but this was really a great treat for these children and also a great treat for us to see their bright smiles.

Planning for 100 children, packing extra in case more children came. We came with 120 ziplock bags. Over 140 children came.

We were surprised when over 140 children arrived and we began to scramble and many ideas were suggested. We could take some out of the many packs and each child would get less, but everyone would get something. A good plan! But then someone in our group suggested that we pray.

Best Idea

We had the suitcases opened and we all made a circle around the piles of ziplock bags that were filled with items for the children. We held hands and prayed and while we were praying, one person in the group said, “The Lord wants us to hand out the bags as they are and to trust Him for the rest.”

We had the children get in a long line and we began to give each child a package. We were all excited, anticipating something from God. When we got to the last child, there was only one package left. Hallelujah! My my my, we celebrated! God multiplied the gifts as we trusted His Word. We came to bless these children and it resulted in all of us being greatly blessed. It has always amazed me that God multiplied everything even down to the labels on the soap and small print on each item.

It is always best to pray and to believe God!
