Learning a subject is not easy. It takes time and it should be done step by step. There are sequences which cannot be skipped. On the other hand, language learning is easy and effortless. It doesn't need a teacher in most cases. Some teachers when they see this statement are sure to frown incredulously. Of course, they would...because it goes against the grain to learn a language without a teacher. After all, they have a long experience in teaching. They have been teaching English to children as young as five until they turn sixteen or seventeen.
ဘာသာရပ္တစ္ခုကို သင္ယူရတာမလြယ္ပါ။ အခ်ိန္ကုန္တယ္။ တစ္ဆင့္ၿပီးတစ္ဆင့္ ေလ့လာယူရတယ္။ အဆင့္ေက်ာ္လို႔မရ။ ဘာသာစကားေလ့လာရတာ လြယ္ပါတယ္။ ဂ႐ုတစိုက္ ႀကိဳးစားစရာေတာင္မလို၊ အမ်ားအားျဖင့္ ဆရာလည္းမလိုပါ။ တခ်ိဳ႕ဆရာေတြက ဒီအဆိုကိုေတြ႔ရင္ မ်က္ေမွာင္ၾကဳတ္ၿပီး မယံုသကၤာမ်က္ေစ့နဲ႔ ၾကည့္မွာေသခ်ာပါတယ္။ ဟုတ္တာေပါ့။ သူတို႔အျမင္နဲ႔က ဆန္႔က်င္ဘက္ျဖစ္ေနတာကိုး။ ဘာသာစကားကို ဆရာမလိုဘူးတဲ့လား။ သူတို႔မွာ ကာလ႐ွည္ၾကာစြာ သင္ျပမႈ အေတြ႔အၾကံဳ႐ွိတာကိုး။ သူတို႔ ငါးႏွစ္အရြယ္ေလာက္ ကေလးေတြကစၿပီး သင္ေပးလာခဲ့တာ (၁၆)ႏွစ္၊(၁၇)ႏွစ္အရြယ္ေရာက္တဲ့အထိပဲကိုး။
Well, if they come to Myenigone, they may be introduced to Ma Kalema, a young Tamil lady of 19. She left school - the middle school soon after she started. She dropped out of fifth standard. They call the fifth standard Grade Six which is of course meaningless to her because everybody knows it is fifth standard. That was six full years ago.
တကယ္လို႔မ်ား အဲဒီဆရာေတြ ေျမနီကုန္းလာျဖစ္မယ္ဆိုရင္ (၁၉)ႏွစ္အရြယ္ တမီးလ္ လံုမငယ္ မကလယ္မေလး နဲ႔ မိတ္ဆက္ေပးလို႔ရႏိုင္တာေပါ့။ သူက အလယ္တန္းေက်ာင္းေရာက္ၿပီး လပိုင္းအတြင္း ေက်ာင္းထြက္ခဲ့တာပါ။ ငါးတန္းကထြက္တာေပါ့။ ငါးတန္းကို ဂရိတ္(၆)တဲ့။ သူ႔အတြက္ကေတာ့ ဘာမွအဓိပၸါယ္မ႐ွိပါဘူး။ လူတိုင္းက ငါးတန္းမွန္းသိေနတာပဲ။ အဲဒါလြန္ခဲ့တဲ့ေျခာက္ႏွစ္ကပါ။
Although she never passed fifth standard, she can speak four languages fluently. None of those four languages anybody took any trouble in teaching her. All four languages she learned effortlessly.
ငါးတန္းမေအာင္ေပမဲ့ ဘာသာစကား(၄)မ်ိဳးကို ကြၽမ္းကြၽမ္းက်င္က်င္ေျပာႏိုင္ပါတယ္။ အဲဒီဘာသာစကား(၄)မ်ိဳးမွာ ဘယ္ဘာသာစကားကို ဘယ္သူကမွ ဒုကၡခံၿပီး သင္မေပးခဲ့ရပါဘူး။ (၄)ဘာသာလံုး အခက္အခဲမ႐ွိ(လြယ္ကူစြာ)ပဲ တတ္ေျမာက္ခဲ့တာျဖစ္ပါတယ္။
