It's interesting that you are experiencing high with the sport you've been born with. In my childhood, neither anyone played rugby nor its variation in American football. I can watch either match but without any "feelings". The same goes for baseball and a little bit better for basketball that I did play as a child.
I like three sports: soccer (that everywhere in the World except in America is called "football"), Track and Field and boxing.
I had much disappointment in my life, but none compared with the one I experienced when the Dutch team lost to Germans during the World cup 1974. I was so in love with the Dutch team and Johan Cruyff. They played so beautifully that it was almost painful to watch. Then in the final game... god knows what happened? Even today I am afraid to watch this game on Youtube. )))
When it comes to track and field there are two outstanding South African athletes: Vade Van Niekerk and Caster Semenya. You can be very proud that they are your compatriots.
