Are you personally get offended if you are in a group of women and someone calls you guys? And are there any indications allowing to distinguish those women who would get offended by calling them "guys" vs. those who wouldn't get offended? More so, would this offense entail a lawsuit?
On a different note, would it be a proper English if I say "Hi there people!" To my ear sounds kind of clumsy, but who am I to judge? )))
Also, is it possible that there women who would get offended if you are calling them "Hi people!" rather than calling them "Hi girls" or "Hi women?"
Maybe it is more proper in a mixed-gender setting to say "Hi gals and guys!" But what if there are someone who is neither? Hm... Maybe "Hi people!" or "Hi Folks!" is a better choice. Unless... O'Boy, it's hard to say something and not to offend anyone. Whoops, maybe even this phrase could be considered offensive. Maybe I have to say "O'Girl"?
