Yes, its time again for us to remember how lucky we are to live in a 'free' country and society by being forced to vote, with threat of fines if we dont, for worthless leaders who are more than happy to lie to our faces to get our vote's then do the complete opposite when they get into office.
Its a funny situation to be in, we laugh to save from crying, we go through the same process over and over again and we expect the results to be different.
Most of my social media is filled with people expressing their political perspective, hinting at it, persuading people to do the 'right thing', with clever little slogans like 'make your vote count'.
They want you to think that these politicians and their campaign/part actually cares about 'the people or our great nation', the reality is that all they care about is getting your vote... that's it no more no less, you are just a number to be filed in a meaningless game we play to help us sleep a little better at night thinking we have some kind of control of our lives.
I very much share the same thoughts and feelings as George Carlin when it comes to voting, unfortunately we get a fine in Australia for not voting, but there are ways around participating.
In my first year of voting i learned all a i need to know, when you turn up to voting you are treated like a champion, you are greeted by people brandishing candidate promotional leaflets with "good day", "how are you", etc. but as you leave after voting these same people dont even make eye contact, you would think if they really 'cared for the people' they would do so at all times, not just selectively when it suits their purpose.
Then of course we get to see those elected go back on what they said they would stand for, a great number of politicians have done so in their time but the one which stands out the most is the great Tony Abbott...
Is it really any wonder that people would consider voting a waste of time, irrelevant, redundant , an absolute joke ? so please remember when you are at the voting booth over the weekend, what we are forced to do is meaningless and is an exercise in futility... we cant use the broken system to fix the broken system, but have fun.
