Studying the Word of God should not be what we do at proxy. We should study the Word of God always. We should continue without retreating backwards in listening to the teachings of the Word of God. We should be well familiar with the scriptures as we study the Bible everyday. Day by day, as we have the opportunity, we should sit down and study the Word of God.
Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV) Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
The Word of God is the commandments of God which is given to us to obey. We are to obey the doctrines in the Bible. How would we be able to understand and know them if we do not study them? We are to always avail ourselves to study the Word of God so that we will be able to obey the instructions written in it.
We are to observe all that Jesus Christ has commanded. Jesus Christ gave the doctrines to the disciples who were the apostles and the apostles passed it on to us. We are to observe and to do everything which Jesus Christ has given us to obey in the doctrines. To be able to obey and do these doctrines, we must study the Word of God always.
John 8:31-32 (KJV) Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
The Lord Jesus Christ said that for us to be His disciples, we must continue in His doctrines. We must listen to and obey these doctrines so that we can be true disciples of Jesus Christ.
