In the teaching, Pastor Eli Soriano explained that in the church there voluntary actions. Voluntary actions are done out of one's free will. It is not commanded. The believer does that as a service to God out of his/her free will.
Isaiah 1:19 (KJV) If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
He made us understand that in the church the Holy Spirit lead us. Aside from the commandments of the Holy Spirit, we also use our common sense to do what we know is right in the church. These actions are not commanded. One just uses his/her common sense to decide out of his/her own free will to do them. Bro Eli, outlined some of these voluntary actions in church to include: doing good, giving contributions, and thanksgiving.
Reading from Numbers 30:2, Bro Eli explained the concept of vows in the church. Vows are voluntary actions, there are not commanded.
Numbers 30:2 (KJV) If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.
When we make vow, we should understand that we have bound our souls with a bond and must not break our words. We must do according to all that we have vowed. Anything that is obligated or commanded is not a vow. When people are told what to do and how to do them, that is not a vow. It is a commandment. When you make a vow it is from your our own free will. In Acts 18:18, we an example of Apostle Paul making a vow.
According to Bro Eli, the doctrine by the Catholic of priest not marrying is not a vow. It is imposed. He also pointed out there that there's no restrictions in the church that priest shouldn't marry. The apostles married, 1 Corinthians 9:5.
According to Ecclesiastes 5:4, Bro Eli admonished us to pay our vows if we want to ask favour from God. We can make vows to draw the favour of God.
Another voluntary action in church is giving of money. 1 Corinthians 9:7, giving of money in church should be voluntary not imposed. There shouldn't be any form of levi in church. Members should be allowed to give as they will. Bro Eli disagreed to the paying of tithes. He said tithing was a old testament commandment, that it is not enforced in the New Testaments. Also mentioned is the fact that givers go to the box to drop their contributions not the box being brought to them, Romans 15:26; 2 Corinthians 8:3-4; Philippians 4:15; Acts 5:1-10.
Thanksgiving is another voluntary actions. Hebrews 13:15; Psalms 50:15; Colossians 3:15; 1 Thessalonians 5:18.
