After each news of chemical bombardment in Syria, we are witnessing the same controversy on the other side of this appalling war; that of the stories. Although this is probably the most documented conflict in history, supporters of the Assad regime systematically question the evidence coming from the field. They denounce "fake news" to fuel the thesis of a conspiracy.
To doubt the chemical bombing of Ghouta, would it not be a testimony of wisdom? But the demand for evidence is endless: photos can be manipulated and testimonials made; any evidence becomes suspect.
This war is becoming more and more crazy:
First because, if you really understand the meaning, Assad have the right to kill his people for some or the rebels for others but without using chemicals weapon. It make a difference for the West but I don’t think the rebels are agree.
And secondly because, Assad and the Russian are using our ideals of justice against us. I do not think Putin or Assad would be bothered by these considerations.
This war remind me of the Spanish civil war of 1936. Nazy Germany and Italiy fasciste were clearly helping the “rebels” of general Franco, whereas the Democracy (France, England, United States) never left a finger in order to help the Republican Spanish Government.
Finally, since M.Trump is doing now announcements onTwitter, he could also do them on Facebook…. All this turn to be ridiculous.
During the Cold War, everything was “more easy”. It always had two “truths” or two version of the truth: That of the NATO and the Warsaw Pact one.
Therefore you have to win the local wars on the field (In Vietnam, in Angola…)
That is what Putin is doing in Syria by clearly helping and saving Assad regime and the west is not willing to do the same.
