Trump and his family won't suffer from severing an economic tie with China. In fact, they will benefit greatly from other investment opportunities. Most Americans have never travelled overseas and don't care about world affairs. As long as their living standard does not get compromised too much, whether U.S. becomes an insolated nation or not won't be any concern to them. It is true that China will continue to rise as long as there are no major hot wars to impede their growth. The world will become more bipolar and the existing economic interdependency between the U.S. and China will wane over time.
