Should the starter pack be changed each season in Splinterlands?
I remember the day Chaos Legion came out. I was playing at the time of release and BOOM all of my recently learned strategies were negated.
At first, I was disappointed, but now I like that I had to learn new strategies. And more importantly, I think changes to the free starter pack cards should occur every few months.
FIRST: Changes to the starter pack forces the bots to be reprogrammed. I don't mind bots. I enjoy battling the bots. However, I like to see different lineups. If the starter packs are rotated, the bots have to be reprogrammed, which will give real players some advantage, for at least a few days.
SECOND: Changes to the starter pack cards will improve the card economy. When cards are in the starter pack, the card value declines both for rental and purchase. When a card is removed from the starter pack, those cards improve in value. This is pretty easy to see and track on Peakmonsters.
THIRD: More cards will be held by players. Owning low value cards or cards that can't be rented is something that card investors dislike. Since the cards have low value, they flood the market. But if the cards are likely to be valuable in the next few months, investors may hold more cards. Which will result in scarcity of cards. The same concept works in crypto. People HODL instead of cash out quickly.
I enjoy Splinterlands and I encourage others to play to earn. The game is an excellent way to learn about digital currency and NFTs. And, it could be a good investment.
