Diem and Facebook have the problem. The company cannot be trusted and cannot be transparent. Blockchain removes the need to trust by being transparent. When every action and interaction are available for all to see, trust is not needed. Facebook requires the acquiring of user data based on a trust from the user that the data will not be used inappropriately. As blockchain pushes the general concept of no trust required only verification, Facebook and other social media companies have much to fear. Add in the fact that blockchain platform like Hive rewards instead of steals from the user, and Facebook should be very fearful.
