The problem most people have with a savings account is that they raid it anytime there is some big item they want. So the account is a roller coaster with deposits in and transfers out. The account never really grows. I set up an account that I call No Touch. It can't be used for any reason for a very long time. All the money that goes into it, stays in it. If there's an emergency then it comes from the Emergency Fund. It's difficult to have a No Touch account, but I am very disciplined in funding the account and leaving everything in it.
