Aloha friends and fellow homo sapiens,
today's topic of discussion will be ontology and the sophisticated science of choosing what to do with your life.
What should I do with my life?
That is a question I have asked my self many times.
At first the answer was ... Idk.
After that it shifted to ... uhh, I guess I'll just play sports and have fun.
And after that it shifted to .... uhh, I guess I'll just try and have fun.
And shortly after that it shifted to the ever so lovely ... fml, I just want to die.
Through these experiences I learned a few things ... allow me share some of them with you.
One of the things I learned is that it does not matter what you choose as your motivating force or "north star".
In all of my own experiences with my various motivations, my happiness was never controlled by the universal "rightness" or "wrongness" of what I was doing.
My happiness was controlled by the conclusions I drew comparing my experience to what I wanted it to be.
There was no universal right or wrong. There was no "guy in the sky" judging and determining my worth.
I was, am, and always will be my own keeper.
With this power comes a great responsibility.
Why you ask? What's the problem if I want to be an angry, sad, depressed piece of shit?
Well, I'll tell ya!
First off, there is nothing wrong with it. You have broken no rule, committed no crime.
Acting as you are causes you no indebtedness to some universal ledger. You are simply experiencing something in a way that is not necessary, and for many people simply not enjoyable.
However, next time you are feeling one of these ways, try relishing the opportunity to be miserably depressed.
How often is it that an organic, carbon based organism, get's to experience something as unique as hating yourself so much that you physical ache and vibrate with an intensity comparable only to a howler monkey screaming as he get's his rocks off.
Every single experience that we possibly could have as these human organisms is a wonderful, unique, and incredibly valuable opportunity. To try and repress, avoid, hide from or deny certain experiences would be to be hiding from an aspect of ourselves, from this reality, and from existence as a whole.
However, that doesn't mean that we need to use depression, anger or fear as our base level realities or mental states.
In fact, the way the world is moving, there isn't really a good reason for anyone to need to experience those things any more.
It's kind of cool. It's like we have enough money, food, water and energy to support everyone on earth!
But I know not everyone sees things this way.
I know greed will always exist, people will be selfish, and it will totally be that guy's fault for cutting you off and ruining your day.
But ... if you want to make a difference, and take us one step closer to a world where everyone can be happy, try enjoying your experience for just a moment.
No matter where you are, what you are doing, who you are with and how you got there, take a moment and simply enjoy the fact that you are consciously experiencing the universe around you, the planet we are living on and the continuous, organic expression of DNA that is your body.
You choose how you see the world. What world do you want to see?
