Brassicas actually need a lot more water than you think to avoid aphid attacks. At least outside I have many ladybirds and parasitic wasps to get rid of aphids, so long as I water the plants enough. I

I have tall kale but it is not an asset in my climate. As they get taller, it is harder for the leaves to pull water that greater distance from the roots. The water stress makes the leaves more vulnerable
